Japan Society of Medical Physics（JSMP）is merged with Japanese Association of Radiological Physicists (JARP) and Japanese Association of Medical Physicists (JAMP) in March 2000.
1．JARP History
| November, 1953 | Japan Radiological Society (JRS) has set up Physics Committee of JRS, the Physics committee has engaged in amendment of medical low. |

| April, 1955 | The 8th meeting of Physics Committee was held, thereafter, the committee’s activity was stopped. |
| May, 1957 | The Physics committee’s activity has resumed. The first meeting of Physics Committee was held. |
| March, 1961* | The Physics Committee was dissolved after the 13th meeting. The Physics Committee was renamed to the special committee of medical physics which was Japan Radiological Society-affiliate committee. |
| October, 1961 | The first meeting of the special committee of medical physics was held in Hiroshima, Japan. |
| April, 1965 | The 12th meeting of the special committee of medical physics was held in Tokyo, Japan. The committee name was changed from the special committee to the physics committee. |
| 1971 | The dose calibration center in medicine was established by Japan Radiological Society (JRS). |
| March，1972 | The contract of the physics committee was implemented. |
| October, 1985 | The 50th meeting of the physics committee of medical physics (the 25th anniversary ceremony of the foundation of medical physics) was held in Akita. |
| 1987 | The medical physicist qualification was initiated in 1987. |
| October, 1992 | The committee name was changed from the physics committee to Japanese Association of Radiological Physicists (JARP). |
| 1996 | The 72th meeting of JARP (The first meeting of Japan-South Korea) was held 1996. The 72th meeting of JARP (The first meeting of Japan-South Korea) was held with Japanese Association of Medical Physicists (JAMP) and KAPM in Seoul. |
| 1997 | JARP published Japanese Journal of Medical Physics (JJMP) in cooperation with JAMP. |
| September, 1998 | The 76th workshop that was jointly organized by JARP and JAMP was held in Ami, Ibaragi. |
| 1999 | The second meeting of Japan-South Korea (JARP, JAMP and KAPM) was held in Chiba, Japan. |
| March, 2000 | JARP gained independence from JRS,JARP and JAMP established Japan Society of Medical Physics (JSMP) |

2．JAMP History
| 1957 | Dr. Moos (United States physicist) sent a letter concerning an establishment of International Organization for Medical Physics to Prof. Mitsuo Miwa in Tokyo university of education. The contents of the letter was seriously considered by the committee of medical physics in JRS. |

| 1963 | Establishment of International Organization for Medical physics (IOMP). |
| 1973 | A task force for IOMP was created in the physics committee of medical physics in JRS. |
| 1977 | Japanese Association of Medical Physicists (JAMP) was established by physical scientists in JRS. |
| 1977 | The members of JAMP have participated to the board of directors of IOMP in 14th International Congress of Radiology, they explained domestic affairs of the physics committee in JRS and JAMP. |
| 1978 | JAMP started accession negotiations with IOMP. |
| 1979 | JAMP have finished the admission procedures for IOMP. The members of JAMP participated to the board of directors of IOMP as observers. |
| 1980 | JAMP received the approval to join a member of IOMP as the 22th.member. The first general meeting was held in Tsu city, and JAMP was established as a formal institution of medical physics. |
| 1984 | The first workshop of JAMP was held in Tokyo. |
| 1991 | The joint meeting of International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and International Conference on Medical Physics was held in Kyoto. |
| 1992 | The 9th workshop of JAMP was held in Tokyo. |
| 1996 | The first meeting of Japan-South Korea (JARP, JAMP and KAPM) was held in Soul. |
| 1997 | JAMP published Japanese Journal of Medical Physics (JJMP) in cooperation with JARP. |
| 1998 | The 16th workshop that was jointly organized by JARP and JAMP was held in Ami, Ibaragi. |
| 1999 | The second meeting of Japan-South Korea (JARP, JAMP and KAPM) was held in Chiba, Japan. |

| May, 2000 | The Asia-Oceania Federation of Organization of Medical Physics was established on May, 18, 2000. |

| April, 2004 | Association for nuclear technology in medicine started radiation device calibration. |

| November, 2004 | The Japanese organization of radiotherapy quality management was established and certification radiotherapy quality manager was started from the following year. |
| September, 2005 | The 4th meeting of Japan-South Korea (The 5th meeting of AOCMP) was held in Kyoto, Japan. |
| January, 2008 | The Journals of Radiological Physics and Technology was first published. |
| February, 2009 | The Japanese Board of Medical Physicist Qualification was established by JSMP and JRS. |
| September, 2010 | The 100th annual meeting of JSMP and memorial ceremony was held in Tokyo. |
| September, 2011 | The 6th meeting of Japan-South Korea (The 11th meeting of AOCMP) was held in Fukuoka, Japan. |
| October, 2011 | JSMP obtained corporate status. |
